tree vs structures
I like the symbiosis - the trees are not nipped at birth, protecting the walls and foundations. Compare it to the preparation for a new subdivision where the earth is stripped bare and buildings made, then new different) trees are planted - but only where we choose them to be. If they are so foolish as to poke their woody noses out from the wrong spot ZAP! out comes the herbicide, or the folding saw. In Japan you showed me buildings built round trees, and trees grown up through buildings. I like that.
